Fantasy Bundesliga tips: 10 players to consider for Matchday 2

Here are 10 players you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga team for Matchday 2.

In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the most obvious picks such as Florian Wirtz and Harry Kane.

Instead, we will highlight players with a maximum ownership percentage of 20%, who could offer great value as differentials for Matchday 2.

Lars Ritzka, St. Pauli (Defender, 5M, 4%)
As far as budget picks go, Ritzka looks like one of the best options in the game at the moment. Despite St. Pauli’s 0-2 defeat to Heidenheim on Matchday 1, he scored an impressive 271 points, with 192 points coming from won ground duels alone. After that performance, he should retain his place ahead of Fin Stevens and could be worth picking up if you need a cheap option.

Jeff Chabot, Stuttgart (Defender, 10M, 6%)
Another ball-winning defender, Chabot scored 217 points in a 3-1 defeat to Freiburg. He didn’t just get his points from his defensive efforts, though, as he also picked up a fair amount from his passing and goal attempts.

Mitchell Weiser, Werder Bremen (Defender, 13M, 7%)
A tireless worker on the right flank, Weiser was expected to perform well with the new scoring system, and it’s safe to say he didn’t disappoint on Matchday 1. The wing-back finished on 437 points, and even without his two assists, he would still have scored a very respectable 297 points. Weiser has a tough match-up against Dortmund this weekend, so he may not do as well as last week, but he seems fairly fixture proof, now that the scoring system has been changed to suit his qualities even better.

Nico Schlotterbeck, Borussia Dortmund (Defender, 14M, 17%)
Schlotterbeck’s figures from last season suggested that he would be a good fit for the new scoring system and, as expected, the BVB defender had a very productive first matchday. He racked up a whopping 387 points despite not being directly involved in any goals. 228 of those points came from duels won, but he also got a decent amount of points from build-ups and attacks.

Laszlo Benes, Union Berlin (10M, 1%)
Benes didn’t even start for Union against Mainz, but his 19 minutes on the pitch certainly earned him a starting berth against St. Pauli. He finished with 172 points, more than any other Union player apart from Diogo Leite. Of course, 100 of those came from his stunning equaliser, but Benes was generally very involved, which bodes well for this weekend.

Lovro Majer, Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 11M, 2%)
Majer scored both of Wolfsburg’s goals against Bayern Munich, including one from the penalty spot, and ended with a whopping 291 points. He didn’t get many points from passing, with Wolfsburg defending for much of the game, but Die Wölfe are expected to be much more in possession against Holstein Kiel and will once again be counting on the Croatian international’s ability to make a difference.

Kevin Stöger, Gladbach (Midfielder, 15M, 3%)
One of the best Fantasy Bundesliga players in the game for Bochum last season, the big question going into this campaign was whether Stöger could play a similar role for Gladbach. After Gladbach’s 2-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, the answer seems to be a resounding yes. Stöger played a key role right from the start, scoring 251 points, and Gladbach have a much easier fixture against Bochum this time around.

Michaell Olise, Bayern (Midfielder, 16M, 12%)
Olise failed to score or assist on his Bundesliga debut, but still managed to rack up an impressive 200 points. The Crystal Palace signing could have a big season ahead of him and is a great, cheaper alternative to Musiala.

Tim Kleindienst, Gladbach (Striker, 12M, 4%)
Based on the first matchday, the new scoring system doesn’t really favor strikers. One of best-performing players up front last weekend was Tim Kleindienst, who picked up 132 points from his goal and four efforts. He also won a decent number of duels – nine in total – showing that he’s capable of getting points from more than just goals and shots.

Hugo Ekitiké, Eintracht Frankfurt (Striker, 12M, 8%)
Much is expected of Ekitiké, who is arguably one of the most hyped strikers in the league. Although he didn’t score against Borussia Dortmund, he showed what he is capable of with 70 points from a total of 14 duels won and 39 points from three goal attempts. He finished with 148 points without scoring, which is a promising sign for the upcoming match against a Hoffenheim side that had big problems at the back against Holstein Kiel.
