- CHRIS SUTTON: Why are clubs not signing players? This transfer window needs to liven up! It’s All Kicking Off
Fantasy Premier League players have this weekend off when the FA Cup takes centre stage, but Gameweek 22 is just days away and there are fitness doubts over a number of high-profile stars.
Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are currently sidelined with knee and hamstring injuries, respectively, while Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland has not played since December 6 due to a foot issue.
Ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Norwich on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Alexander-Arnold’s availability.
‘With Trent, is it already Norwich or is it the game after? We have to see,’ Klopp said.
‘He was not in team training, not even parts of team training yet, so if he can be in tomorrow then I have to make a decision there.’

Jurgen Klopp has suggested Alexander-Arnold has a chance of playing this weekend against Norwich ahead of Liverpool’s return to league action against Chelsea next Wednesday
Mohamed Salah will not be back for Liverpool over the next week, though, after injuring his hamstring

Klopp’s comments suggest Alexander-Arnold is facing a race against time to play on Sunday, but he could be back to take on Chelsea in the Premier League next Wednesday, which would be a huge boost for FPL users and Liverpool.
The full back is the most expensive defender on the game at £8.5m, and has been a major asset to Liverpool this season thanks to his ability to drift into midfield and create chances from central positions as well as out wide.
But an imminent return is not on the cards for Salah. It was revealed earlier this week that he will be out for up to four weeks due to a hamstring tear.
Liverpool have faced some criticism for recalling Salah from the Africa Cup of Nations to complete his rehabilitation with the club, but Klopp has insisted that the winger will go back to be with his fellow countrymen if they make the latter stages of the tournament.
‘We have exactly the same target as Egypt – make Mo fit as quickly as possible,’ he added.
‘If he’s fit earlier, or as long as Egypt is still in the tournament, he will go back. That’s clear.’
For FPL players considering selling Salah, he is now at risk of missing Liverpool’s next four league games against Chelsea, Arsenal, Burnley and Brentford.
There is more positive news for those who have kept Haaland or saved enough money in their transfer kitty to buy him back.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Norwegian striker will not be ready for City’s FA Cup trip to Tottenham tomorrow night, but he is edging nearer to a return.
Pep Guardiola has ruled Erling Haaland out of Man City’s FA Cup trip to Tottenham tomorrow
Haaland is ‘close’ to a return, though, and could play against Burnley next week
‘Tomorrow he is still not ready but he is close,’ Guardiola announced at his pre-match press conference.
Haaland is FPL’s costliest player, with users having to fork out £13.9m to get him, but he has been worth every penny during his 18 months in England.
He scored 36 goals in 35 league games last term, and has 14 in 15 matches this season.
His staggering numbers mean he will be hard to ignore if he is declared fit to feature in City’s next league game at home to Burnley next Wednesday.
