Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso called the team after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Juventus and dedicated the victory to Joe Barone’s family.
Ex-Fiorentina director Barone died on March 19, 2024, at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
Fiorentina paid tribute to their former CEO before the kick-off of a Serie A match against Juventus on Sunday and then dedicated a 3-0 win to his family.
‘President Rocco Commisso commented on the victory against Juventus after motivating the team with a phone call in the locker room before the match, just as he did against Panathinaikos. “I want to dedicate this victory to the family of our Joe Barone.”,’ Fiorentina wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino also honoured Barone after today’s memorable victory.
“We are very happy and we dedicate this victory to Joe Barone. I didn’t know him, but he has remained in everyone’s heart at Viola Park and to the president, who motivated us with a phone call before the match,” the Viola boss said at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia.
