Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso insists this season was ‘an improvement’ over the last, while there are updates on the fate of Moise Kean, David De Gea, Yacine Adli and Nicolò Zaniolo.
The Viola held their end of season press conference today, with President Commisso, directors Daniele Pradè and Alessandro Ferrari.
Their failure to reach a third consecutive Conference League Final had raised doubts over coach Raffaele Palladino, but he snatched sixth place from Lazio on the final day of the Serie A season to qualify yet again for that UEFA tournament.

“It was Pradè who suggested I extend Palladino’s contract just before the semi-final against Real Betis and I immediately gave the all-clear,” said Commisso.
“There are regrets we didn’t get into the Europa League, as we were unlucky, in the last 11 years sixth place was worth qualification in 10 times out of 11. I said we wanted to have an improvement on the previous season and with sixth place, we did that.”
Commisso pledged to continue investing heavily in the club, albeit warning it was difficult to do better after his plans to build a new stadium were rejected in favour of restructuring the existing Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“Without owning our stadium, it is impossible to boost revenue, and without that, we cannot compete with the big clubs. This angers me. I read a lot of controversy, but nobody other than me made a concrete proposal to invest in Fiorentina. I put the money in and will continue to do so.”
Fiorentina reveal decisions on star players

Director of sport Pradè also spoke at the press conference and revealed some of the decisions that have already been made for next season, specifically that Yacine Adli will return to Milan after his loan experience “as a mutual decision.”
Michael Folorunsho (Napoli), Andrea Colpani (Monza) and Zaniolo (Galatasaray) will also not have their options to buy activated.
“We still need to work out a few things with Danilo Cataldi. I can say Nicolò Fagioli, Amir Richardson and Robin Gosens will be with us next season. Dodo has two years left on his contract and needs to tell us what he wants to do.”

There is an option to extend De Gea’s contract by one more year, but amid interest from AS Monaco, Fiorentina are eager to lock the veteran goalkeeper down.
“We would like to renew De Gea’s contract for another three years, so we are discussing this with him.”
Kean is a tricky situation, because he has a €52m release clause in his contract, which after a sensational campaign is making him seen like a bargain.
“Kean is very happy with us and received a lot from Fiorentina this season. As for the clause, I don’t think anyone thought when it was drawn up that €52m was a small amount. Now the decision is entirely up to him.
“We told him our intention to continue together and hope he takes into consideration all that he has received from this club.”
