Ahead of Mainz’s clash with 1.FC Heidenheim tomorrow evening, Urs Fischer told the media that two of his strikers are likely to miss out.
“We were able to partially integrate Leitsch and Mwene into training, but we’ll have to wait and see how they perform on Saturday.
Nelly [Weiper] is ill and missed today’s training. Otherwise, the personnel situation is the same as it was for the Union match.
“We were also able to integrate Silas, but tomorrow’s game is still too soon. If everything goes perfectly, he’ll be available for us in Köln next weekend,” he added.
Fischer, who has been tasked with lifting Mainz away from the relegation zone, believes the game against Heidenheim will be tight.
“I think it will be a balanced game. Small details could decide the match. Set pieces will be especially important again; we learned our lessons from the Union game,” he explained.
