Five players who could join Barcelona this summer

Barcelona won’t have a lot of money to spend this summer, but they could still make some big signings.

The Blaugrana are set for a big summer overhaul following the news that Xavi will leave the club at the end of the season. As FootballTransfers revealed, there is still the chance for a spectacular U-turn, but it will depend on Barcelona securing at least two major signings as well as offloading some unwanted stars.

Given the club’s still-dire financial situation, it is doubtful whether they can spend big on more than one signing in the upcoming transfer window. However, as one of the largest football clubs in the world, the Catalans continue to be linked with some big names even if the chances of them actually getting signed are slim.

Here are five players who could join Barcelona this summer…

Joao Cancelo (Man City)

Man City outcast Joao Cancelo has been spending the season on loan at Barcelona and the Catalans are keen to make his move permanent. Due to economic difficulties, the Blaugrana could not include a purchase option in his loan, meaning that they will have to negotiate with City in the summer.

Their lack of funds will make a move difficult, but Cancelo could play a major role in the talks. The Portuguese is keen to stay with Barcelona and if he were to push for a move, City may lower their price.

Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid)

From one loanee to another, Joao Felix is in the same boat as Cancelo. Barcelona are keen to make his loan from Atletico permanent and the Portuguese is desperate to stay, but everything will depend on the club’s finances.

Felix is still Atleti’s record signing and the capital club are keen to recoup a decent chunk of their original outlay of €127 million. At this stage, it seems that Barcelona’s only option for keeping Felix in the future will be via another loan.

Bernardo Silva (Man City)

Felix doesn’t just want to stay at Barca, he also wants Bernardo Silva to join. His compatriot has been flirting with Barcelona for some time and could leave Man City in the summer. The problem? You guessed it, the money. Silva has a €60m release clause, meaning that it will be incredibly difficult for Barcelona to sign him.

Felix recently joked that he has convinced Silva to join, but it has been known for some time that the 29-year-old would love to play for Barcelona. PSG are also interested in the playmaker.

Bryan Zaragoza (Bayern Munich)

Bryan Zaragoza is having a terrible time at Bayern Munich. The Spaniard was initially supposed to join in the summer of 2024, but his move was brought forward by six months after an injury to Kingsley Coman. Since then, the Spain international has rarely been seen.

German media reports that Bayern could look to loan out Zaragoza in the summer and Barcelona, who were previously interested in him, could take him on board at favourable conditions.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli)

Likely the most unrealistic transfer of the lot, Barcelona greatly admire Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian is Barcelona’s impossible dream signing, with his father and agent both Blaugrana fans.

However, Napoli are braced for the exit of Victor Osimhen in the upcoming window and don’t want to lose both of their key players. It would take an offer north of €100m just to get the Italians to even consider a sale. Barcelona are keen to make it happen, but whether they can do so is a different question altogether.
