The WAG of a former Liverpool star has shared what she told friends when she saw him for the first time. 

The player in question made 29 appearances during a six-year stint with the Reds between 2016 and 2018. 

He also started the first Champions League that Liverpool reached under Jurgen Klopp in 2018. 

But Loris Karius would never play for the Merseyside outfit again after making two glaring errors in that final to hand Real Madrid the trophy. 

Now, it has been revealed what his wife said to her friends upon seeing Karius in the flesh for the first time. 

Karius, 31, has been in a relationship with Italian television presenter and model, Diletta Leotta, since 2022.

According to German publication BILD, she said: ‘Girls, the man of my life has come in’. 

The pair were said to have met for the first time in the autumn of 2022, when they had dinner together in Paris for dinner at a club. 

Karius was claimed to have made the first move in the relationship by talking to her, with the couple’s first conversation reportedly lasting until four in the morning. 

Leotta, 33, was even said to be so smitten by Karius that she described the encounter as being ‘love at first sight.’ 

The pair have one child together, a girl named Aria, who was born in August 2023, before marrying each other in June last year. 

That ceremony took place at a private event on the Sicilian island of Vulcano. 

It comes after Leotta was in the stands at FC Schalke last Friday to witness her husband’s debut for his new club. 

Karius joined Schalke in January on a deal until the end of the season having  been without a club since leaving Newcastle at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

He was handed his first start in over a year on Friday night against Preussen Munster, having previously been second choice to Justin Heekeren. 

Leotta shared footage from the stands on social media of Karius warming up ahead of his debut for the German side.

The 31-year-old made a number of fine saves during the 2. Bundesliga match, which helped Schalke earn a narrow 1-0 victory.

The result helped to ease Schalke’s relegation concerns with the victory taking them nine points clear of the drop zone.

‘For a goalkeeper, it’s always good if you can distinguish yourself,’ Karius told Sky Germany post-match.

‘I tried to give the team security and to defuse what came at the goal.

‘But that’s my job, I would be disappointed if I didn’t make those saves. That was fine for the debut.’
