The summer transfer window in the Premier League and across Europe’s major leagues closed on August 30, and the winter window will not reopen until the new year in January.

This past summer did not see the levels of spending from the Premier League as it did during previous years but there were still some huge transfers across the board.

Chelsea spent the most money (€261 million) on transfers of any club in world football during the 2024 summer transfer window. They signed Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham), Omari Kellyman (Aston Villa), Marc Guiu (Barcelona), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester), Renato Veiga (Basel), Filip Jorgensen (Villarreal), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta), Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors), Pedro Neto (Wolves) and Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid), Estevao (Palmeiras) and Mike Penders (Genk).

Man Utd also spent heavily. They signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG for €50m + €10m in add-ons, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for €42.5m, Lille’s Leny Yoro for an initial €62m and Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for a combined €60m.

Arsenal made David Raya’s loan from Brentford permanent and signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for €45m and Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad for €32m.

Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa from Juventus for a fee of €12m and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for €30m, although the Georgian goalkeeper won’t arrive until next year.

Elsewhere, we saw Brighton (€231.2m), Aston Villa (€176.2m) and Tottenham (€148m) also splash the cash.
