Fabio Capello and Ronaldo were reunited ahead of Inter Milan’s Champions League clash with Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday and the Italian could not resist a brutal jibe at his former player
Ex-England boss Fabio Capello fired a brutal dig at Brazil icon Ronaldo about his weight after being reunited with the former forward. The pair worked together for a short spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ronaldo scored four goals in 13 appearances under Capello. Following their prior spell working together, the pair were reunited on Tuesday evening ahead of Inter Milan’s Champions League clash with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
And upon seeing his former player once again via video chat, Capello brutally asked: “How much do you weigh now?”
That saw the now 49-year-old break into laughter as he replied: “Still with the weight? No more!”
While Capello was more than happy to tease his former player, he was still very complimentary. He claimed that Ronaldo was “the most talented player I ever worked with, but when it came to his lifestyle, he left rather a lot to be desired.”

Those comments come after a similar claim that the Italian tactician made last year. He said: “Ronaldo was the best player I ever coached. But he loved to party every night — he was wild.
“He weighed around 207 pounds and refused to slim down. At one point, I told the president we had to let him go.
“There was no way forward. So we did. But I’ll say it again: he was the best I’ve ever coached.”

While Ronaldo’s partying antics were a regular irritant for Capello, there’s no getting away from the fact that he was a hugely talented goalscorer. He scored 104 goals in 177 appearances for the Spanish side.
He also had goal-laden spells with PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan and AC Milan. Ronaldo rounded off his career with Brazilian side Corinthians in 2011 having been blighted by knee injuries throughout his time in the professional ranks.
Ronaldo also enjoyed a glittering career with Brazil. He earned 99 caps for the Selecao, scoring on 62 occasions for his country, while he also helped the nation to two World Cup titles. His performances also helped him to land two Ballon d’Ors.
When it comes to Capello, he managed AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus. The seven-time Serie A winner was appointed by England in 2007. The Italian went on to manage Russia and Jiangsu Suning, the Chinese side having been his most recent employers.
