  • LISTEN NOW: It’s All Kicking Off! Is it fair for Man United or Tottenham to go straight into the Champions League if they win the Europa League?

Can you work out this former Manchester United Premier League title winner?

The star returned to Old Trafford for the club’s goalless draw against Manchester City earlier this month 13 years after leaving.

Now 43, in his glory years he racked up three Premier League crowns, a Champions League, a Club World Cup, two EFL Cups, and three Community Shields.

He was once caught up in a kit gaffe where his name was spelled incorrectly on his shirt for a Carling Cup clash with Crewe Alexandra. Admittedly, his name was never the easiest to spell.

The player made 61 appearances over six seasons for the Red Devils but left in search of more game time.

He’s now got a smattering of facial hair that wasn’t there back in his United days… but can you recognise him?

The star in question is none other than Tomasz Kuszczak, the former back-up goalkeeper.

‘A few years have passed but the sentiment remained the same,’ he wrote on Instagram as he shared images of his return.

‘It was nice to stand on the Old Trafford turf again and meet old friends.’

One of those was Darren Fletcher, who he posed with for a photograph by the pitch.

The 11-time Poland international had to settle for his name being spelled Zuszczak in the aforementioned Crewe Alexandra clash.

He was signed in 2006 from West Bromwich Albion to be Edwin van der Sar’s understudy, but with the chance to take his spot after the Dutchman’s expected retirement after Euro 2008.

But Van der Sar clung on until 2001, and the arrival of Anders Lindegaard in 2010, before David de Gea in 2011, blocked his route to up the hierarchy.

Kuszczak went on to play for Watford, Brighton, Wolves, and Birmingham in the Championship before retiring in 2019.

He has since started a construction business, got a sports journalism degree, and worked as goalkeeping coach.
