A former Premier League star says he has ‘new confidence’ after undergoing a hair transplant in London.

The ex-Aston Villa defender had 4,085 hairs implanted into his head as he wants to ‘look his best’ discussing the beautiful game on TV.

Ahmed Elmohamady spent seven full seasons playing in the Premier League for Sunderland, Hull City, and Aston Villa, and now works in the latter’s commercial department.

The 37-year-old was also an Egpyt international, earning 92 caps, winning the Africa Cup of Nations twice, and playing alongside Mohamed Salah

Many football stars including Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Harry Kane, and Salah have allowed the operators to go to town on their scalps over the years.

‘New hair, new confidence! After years of dealing with hair loss, I decided it was time for a change,’ Elmohamady wrote on Instagram.

‘Thanks to DHI London, I had 4,085 hairs implanted using their advanced DHI technique—no shaving, no fuss, and a natural look I know I’ll love.

‘The best part? The full results will be visible in about a year, and I can’t wait to see the transformation. It’s not just about the hair; it’s about feeling great in your own skin and boosting mental health.’

He also said in a video: ‘I had the hair transplant because I wanted to boost my confidence.

‘I have been suffering from hair loss for the past five years and I just felt it would give me a bit of a boost to get it sorted.

‘So many men are getting help with their hair and it is really no big deal.

‘Obviously Wayne Rooney was the first high profile footballer to be really open about his transplant.

‘I admired Wayne for going public and he looked so much better after his treatment.

‘But it was another Wayne who really inspired me to get it done.

‘He is still waiting for all the new hair to grow back but he is confident that it will look good and completely natural.

‘I do a lot of TV work here and in the Middle East and it is important that I look my best when I am talking about the game.

‘Women improve their appearances with cosmetic surgery all the time. It is great that there is now the same acceptance with men.’

Elmohamady is friends with Salah thanks to their time spent playing for Egypt together.

‘It has been wonderful to watch Mo develop as a footballer and become one of the greatest players in the world,’ the ex-Villa star said.

‘I will tell him all about my hair transplant when Villa play Liverpool later in the season and how I had it at DHI.

‘Mo is always changing his hair and he looks great now he has cut it short.’
