A former Rangers star has been arrested and reportedly found to have alcohol in his blood after knocking down a motorcyclist in Colombia.

Alfredo Morelos reportedly swerved into the oncoming lane to attempt an overtake and crashed into a rider as well as a truck.

Police confirmed they had arrested the Atletico National forward and that he was ‘driving under the influence of alcohol (grade two)’.

Motorcyclist Sebastian Guillermo Davila was left hospitalised with fractured limbs and blunt trauma to his abdomen, according to local media via Colombian broadsheet El Tiempo

Morelos himself is understood to be uninjured after the crash in his black pick-up truck, as is the driver of the lorry.

The crash happened near Jose María Cordova airport, in Rionegro, Antioquia.

Morelos spent six seasons at Rangers and left for iconic club Santos at the end of the 2023-23 season.

He netted 124 goals in 169 games at the Ibrox club and was part of the side that won the Scottish Premiership under Steven Gerrard, also lifting the Scottish Cup and reaching the final of the Europa League.

The 11-time Colombia international has been on loan in his homeland with Atletico Nacional this year and has hit his stride, with seven goals in 14 appearances.
