Frankfurt are on the verge of replacing Trapp with Zetterer

Eintracht Frankfurt are forced to a late change of plans in the goalkeeping department following the impending departure of their legendary shot-stopper.

Eintracht Frankfurt permitted Kevin Trapp to complete his move to Ligue 1’s newly-promoted side Paris FC. Accordingly, the 35-year-old is out of their squad, currently playing against the Oberliga team Engers in the cup.

36-year-old Jens Grahl started in his place, but the Eagles signed a replacement for their long-serving captain. Michael Zetterer, who was expected to be the starter at Werder Bremen ahead of Mio Backhaus, is about to sign for the Champions League participants.

Zetterer recently extended his Bremen contract until 2029, but the two clubs reached a full agreement. According to Sky, the transfer fee will be €5 million, excluding potential add-ons of €800K.

Frankfurt also have the highly-rated Kaua Santos in their ranks, but the Brazilian is on the sidelines for an ACL injury. Meanwhile, with the previous #1 Jiri Pavlenka leaving the previous summer, Bremen could very well search for a competition for the young Backhaus. Zetterer played his last game for the club in the Pokal exit in Bielefeld.
