With Harry Kane set to miss the coming games due to a muscle injury, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany needs to find a way to replace his star striker.

Signing a back-up for the England captain, who could potentially miss the rest of 2024, isn’t on the agenda, sporting director Christoph Freund emphasized on Monday.

“We have complete faith in our squad,” Freund said at a press conference, adding:

“Harry is a special player, is tough to replace. We won’t buy a second Kane. We’re very well covered in attack and will find a solution.”

Sitting next to Freund, Kompany admitted that Kane can’t be replaced “one-to-one”, but that he has a number of options, naming Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise and Leroy Sané.

Next up for the Bavarians is a DFB-Pokal clash against reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
