Friedl doubtful for Werder’s clash with Bayern after training withdrawal

Marco Friedl was forced to pull out of Werder Bremen’s training session on Tuesday.

Werder Bremen captain Marco Friedl is a doubt for Friday’s Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich.

According to DeichStube, the 27-year-old centre-back was forced to leave Tuesday’s training session early after experiencing discomfort in his left knee. 

Friedl has already struggled with knee issues this season and missed Werder’s 3-3 draw with Bayer Leverkusen as a result.

Meanwhile, Samuel Mbangula, who sat out last week’s 0-3 defeat to Freiburg with a hamstring injury, was only able to train individually.

Isak Hansen-Aarøen and Niklas Stark also missed team training alongside long-term absentees Mitchell Weiser, Olivier Deman and Maximilian Wöber.
