Fiorentina suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to the Japan University FA team, while Louis Buffon scored in Pisa’s 1-1 draw with Pistoiese.
We are down to the final pre-season friendly matches, as the Coppa Italia and then Serie A are on the horizon.
Fiorentina and Pisa struggle
The last Fiorentina game of the summer was a disappointing 2-1 loss to Japan University FA.
Albert Gudmundsson had opened the scoring for Stefano Pioli’s men on an assist from new signing Simon Sohm, while Moise Kean had several chances.
However, Yoshimura and Ikegaya turned it around, with a late Dodo equaliser for Fiorentina ruled offside.
Elsewhere, Alberto Gilardino’s Pisa were held to a 1-1 draw by Serie D club Pistoiese this evening.
Louis Buffon, the son of Italy legend Gigi Buffon, found the net for the Serie A newcomers before the Pinzauti penalty.
The bad news was that Pisa saw both Mateus Lusuardi and striker Henrik Meister go off injured.
That puts them at significant risk for the Coppa Italia First Round tie against Cesena on Sunday.
