Gakpo confirms interest from Bayern

Cody Gakpo has confirmed that Bayern Munich expressed interest in him this summer before signing Luis Diaz.

Over the summer, Cody Gakpo was linked with a move to Bayern Munich as the German champions looked to strengthen their attacking options.

The Liverpool star has now confirmed that Bayern did show interest in him before ultimately choosing to sign his teammate at the time, Luis Diaz.

“From what I understand, they [Bayern] did come [to open talks about a transfer], but they ended up buying Luis Diaz,” Gakpo told ESPN. 

“It’s difficult because so much is happening. Other clubs are approaching you, but you might want to stay with your own club.

“Everyone handles that in their own way, but it’s definitely difficult. When the future is uncertain, it just becomes a very difficult story.”
