Galatasaray are reportedly planning on making a £42million bid for Victor Osimhen in January as they look to make his loan deal from Napoli permanent.

After being repeatedly linked with a move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer, Osimhen joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan in September.

Since then the 25-year-old has enjoyed a prolific start to life in the Super Lig and has netted four goals in as many starts while contributing two assists.

As a result, Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk is reportedly determined to sign Osimhen on a permanent deal but finances remain a major stumbling block.

Napoli are said to have agreed to a £63m release clause should a club from outside Serie A be interested.

However, according to Turkish outlet Sozcu, while Galatasaray are unable to meet that fee they will still look to make a bid from Osimhen once the January window opens.

The report claims that with the help of a sponsor Galatasaray are prepared to offer a club-record £42m, in a bid to beat out interest from the likes of Chelsea and PSG.

Should the deal be completed it would smash the club’s current record transfer expenditure for a single player, more than doubling the £15m they paid Norwich this summer to sign Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara.

The reports come just one month after Osimhen boldly declared his transfer value and stated there are few players in world football with the quality he possesses.

‘I am worth over 100 million euros.’ Osimhen told TMW.

‘There are few players in the world like me, who have reached such style and success. It all relates to my characteristics, what I do, and my quality. Therefore, I believe I deserve it.

‘I am aware of my contribution and what I can achieve, even in my private life. Do people think differently? Some say 15 million, others 100-120-150….. Everyone has their own opinion.’
