The German footballers’ union elected their standout player of the campaign and the best newcomer of 2024-25.

Florian Wirtz has been voted as the Bundesliga player of the season by his fellow footballers in Germany.

The Vereinigung der Vertragsfußballspieler, or German professional footballers’ union, selected the 22-year-old as the standout performer with 29.1% of the vote.

Leverkusen’s talisman had to fend off stiff competition from Bayern Munich duo Harry Kane (20%) and Michael Olise (17%).

Meanwhile the same players’ union also elected their best newcomer of the 2024-25 Bundesliga campaign.

VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade came out on top with 31.7% of the votes ahead of Michael Olise (13.8%) and TSG Hoffenheim’s Tom Bischof (9%).
