Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly hoping to fend off growing interest in Lukas Ullrich by offering the player a lucrative new contract.

Lukas Ullrich took a major step forward at Borussia Mönchengladbach last season, establishing himself as the club’s first-choice left-back ahead of Luca Netz.

According to Bild, the 21-year-old has drawn interest from clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A thanks to his strong performances – interest that has only intensified with his impressive displays for Germany at the U21 Euros.

Gladbach, however, are determined to keep hold of the promising youngster and are reportedly prepared to offer him a contract extension with a significant pay rise.

Bild reports that Die Fohlen want to extend Ullrich’s current deal, which runs until 2027, by two more years, until 2029, with an option for an additional season.

The proposed new terms would see Ullrich earn €2.5 million annually, plus potential bonuses of up to €500,000.

Talks are said to be at an advanced stage, and an agreement now appears likely.
