Die Fohlen are not moved by the Eredivisie club’s first approach.
Borussia Mönchengladbach have rejected Ajax’s first written offer for Ko Itakura, Sky Germany’s sources believe.
The bid was reportedly well below the club’s valuation set by Die Fohlen who finished in tenth-place last season.
Gladbach are demanding at least €10million plus bonuses just to enter negotiations with with the Amsterdam side.
An agreement is currently not in sight, with Borussia prepared to let Itakura enter the final year of his contract if necessary.
During the 2024/25 campaign, the 28-year-old Japanese international made 31 Bundesliga appearances while scoring 3 goals.
