Borussia Mochengladbach have been dealt a blow this afternoon as news broke that Moritz Nicolas will potentially miss the rest of the season.

A social media statement from Die Fohlen underlined the severity of the issue affecting the goalkeeper who was substituted in the 20th-minute against Union Berlin.

“Moritz Nicolas sustained an adductor injury last Saturday. The 27-year-old goalkeeper underwent successful surgery today but will most likely be out for the end of the season”.

Gerardo Seoane will be forced to call upon the services of Swiss shot-stopper Jonas Omlin who has been out of favour for some time now.

Nicolas, who took over as regular goaltender since Bundesliga Matchday 4 back in September 2024, impressed with 19 appearances while managing 5 clean sheets.

The 27-year-old joins teammates Franck Honorat (foot), Rocco Reitz (toe) and Yvandro Borges Sanches (muscular problems) on the sidelines for the foreseeable.
