Grealish back to his best at Everton but regrets partying ways at Man City

Jack Grealish says he regrets partying so much at Manchester City but still believes his time under Pep Guardian at the Etihad was a success.

After becoming one of the Premier League’s most entertaining mavericks at Aston Villa, the attacking midfielder earned himself a huge £100 million transfer to Man City.

The change in system and the demands of Guardiola meant that Grealish had to work hard to adapt, and although he showed moments of brilliance, he wasn’t at the scintillating best we saw at Villa.

Throughout his career, he has been a target of the tabloids due to his love of a party. He has never been far from criticism because of his lifestyle but his talent on the pitch has never been in doubt and he has found a new home to flourish at Everton after joining on loan from City.

Grealish has four assists in four starts for the Toffees and appears to be back to his best.

Reflecting on his time at City, he admits he partied too hard at times, but insists it was a successful period.

“People go, ‘he likes to go out, he likes to party’ – and I do. I want to be able to live my life as well and enjoy myself, but there’s a time and a place to do that,” the England international said in an interview with Sky Sports.

I’ll be honest with you, I probably haven’t picked the right times – sometimes at City, for example, I didn’t help myself at times, I’ll openly say that – but then I don’t think it was all down to that. People say to me, ‘what happened at City?’ But I had two good years there.

“The first year I was getting used to everything, going there for that amount of money, the pressure and just getting used to the way the manager wanted to play and the environment. The second year we won the treble and it was an unbelievable year. I loved it. The third year, I put that down to myself really and I feel like I didn’t do certain things right in that year.”
