Viktor Gyokeres is targeting a January transfer away from crisis club Sporting CP – and his value is expected to be slashed almost in half as a result.
The departure of Ruben Amorim has acted as a trigger for the Sweden international striker to push for a move away from Lisbon, with the team collapsing following the decision of their talismanic manager to leave for Manchester United.
Sporting, who had been undefeated this season, have lost four successive matches, with Gyokeres managing to find the net in just one of these games.
Things seemed to come to a head following the Champions League defeat against Club Brugge, when the striker admitted being angry after fans threw objects at him and his team-mates.
Just a matter of weeks ago, Gyokeres was expected to see out the season at Sporting, but his prospects of remaining in Lisbon now appear to be decreasing by the day.
With Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG all interested in signing the hitman, who has a release clause of €100 million, he is now pushing for a blockbuster switch to one of Europe’s heavyweight clubs and as a consequence his value could be cut almost in two.
Gyokeres deal at half price?
“Gyokeres, under normal conditions and committed to Sporting, is objectively worth €100m,” Vitor Pinto, a prominent journalist in Portugal with Record, told Now.
“A Gyokeres who is uncomfortable at Sporting, who feels he is an extra, who is being targeted by missiles and firecrackers thrown by the crowd, who recognises that the team does not know how to play for him is a Gyokeres who will put himself on the market.
“The day Gyokeres says he wants out of Sporting, the price will drop from €100m to €60m. This is an imminent risk.
Gyokeres was in disbelief, unable to understand what’s happening. After scoring 40 or 50 goals and they are throwing firecrackers at him? Is everyone crazy?

“The picture of Gyokeres says it all. There’s another image of Conrad Harder thinking: ‘What have I gotten myself into?’
“What happened is somewhat worrying because this wave of protest will start to make itself felt and will intensify at Sporting. I can’t see Gyokeres accepting this type of lack of respect.”
