Harry Kane makes Bayern Munich admission amid Spurs and Barcelona transfer links

Harry Kane has been linked with a move to Barcelona and a return to Tottenham and reportedly has a release clause in his contract.

England captain Harry Kane has dismissed speculation linking him with a switch to Barcelona, insisting he’s received ‘no contact’ regarding a potential transfer. The 32-year-old has been strongly tipped for a move to the Nou Camp as a possible successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

Kane is reported to have a release clause worth approximately €65 million (£57m) written into his Bayern Munich deal. Nevertheless, the clause must be triggered by the player himself and runs out at the end of January.

Rumours have also surfaced about a Premier League comeback, with suggestions of a sensational return to Tottenham. The striker left Spurs for Bayern during the summer of 2023.

In an interview with Bild, Kane spoke about his future and the transfer speculation. He said: “I haven’t had any contact with anyone, nobody has contacted me.

“I feel very comfortable in the current situation, even though we haven’t yet discussed my situation with Bayern.” He added: “There’s no rush.

“I’m really happy in Munich. You can see that in the way I’m playing.

“If there’s contact, then we’ll see. But I’m not thinking about the new season yet. First up is the World Cup in the summer.

“And it’s very unlikely that anything will change after this season. When pressed on whether Bayern supporters should be concerned over his future, he said: “I don’t think so.”

Since his move to Germany, the former Spurs striker has netted a remarkable 109 goals in 114 appearances for his club. He’s set to return to London this week as Bayern Munich face Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Kane boasts a strong record against the Gunners, with 15 goals and two assists in his 21 competitive matches against Spurs’ north London rivals. This includes a goal he netted in the 2023/24 Champions League quarter-finals, helping Bayern advance with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

A potential return to the Premier League could see Kane challenge Alan Shearer’s longstanding goalscoring record. He’s just 48 goals away from matching Shearer’s tally of 260 – a record that’s remained unbroken for nearly two decades.
