Harry Maguire has provided a fitness update after giving Manchester United an injury scare over the weekend. Maguire was taken off due to a suspected hamstring issue during United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.

The stalemate in North London saw United add Benjamin Sesko and Casemiro to their injury list ahead of the international break. Maguire was left out of the England squad by manager Thomas Tuchel for the November round of World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.

Instead, Maguire has been at Carrington working on his fitness ahead of the return of Premier League football next week.

Amid worries about Maguire’s fitness and fears that the defender may have sustained an injury, an update has surfaced with the United star posting on social media.

Maguire took to Instagram to send two messages to his 5.5million followers. The first message saw Maguire enjoying a hot drink at United’s training base, accompanied with the caption: “Quiet morning at Carrington”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The second post saw Maguire pose alongside United coach Mike Clegg, which also featured a caption. “Bike done,” wrote Maguire on the post, accompanied with a green tick emoji and a bicep emoji.

Despite the positive news about his condition, United still face a nervous wait to find out if Maguire will be fully fit and ready to play when Premier League action resumes on November 24, where the Red Devils will take on Everton in the Monday Night Football.

United head coach Ruben Amorim was quizzed about Maguire’s potential injury setback following the stalemate with Spurs.

Amorim explained: “With everything that happened, Harry [Maguire] has to come out, Casemiro has to come out and Ben [Sesko].”

United’s draw with Tottenham left them in seventh place in the Premier League table and saw them leapfrog reigning champions Liverpool after their defeat to Manchester City.

The return of Premier League football after the international break will see United have their busiest spell of the season so far, with eight fixtures in the top flight before the end of December.

United are now just one point adrift of the top four spots and will have strong ambitions to qualify for the Champions League after a year without any European football at Old Trafford.
