Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has admitted he is ‘dreaming’ of the day his former teammate Cesc Fabregas becomes a manager at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas has impressed while in charge of Serie A side Como and the young manager has already attracted attention from the likes of Milan and Inter during his two-year career.
Having established himself as one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League during his playing career at Chelsea and Arsenal, Hazard believes Fabregas is ‘destined’ to become an elite coach and should continue has managerial career with the Blues.
“I’ll be honest, in the summer we talked a bit. I told him he was one of the best midfielders in history and that he’s destined to become one of the best coaches as well,” Hazard told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I explained to him that the time has come for him to return to Chelsea, and he joked about it, but I really believe it. He loves football and knows everything about this spot.
“I’m a Chelsea fan, and I want the best for the club. That’s why I dream of seeing Cesc on their bench, while I’ll be staying in the stands behind him, enjoying the show.”
Fabregas thriving in Italy as Hazard picks dream Chelsea transfer
Fabregas won five trophies in five years at Chelsea, having also thrived with Arsenal and Barcelona as well as winning the World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.
The 38-year-old has since helped lead Como to promotion from Serie B before taking them to tenth place in their first year back in Italy’s top flight, with side currently sitting sixth in Serie A.
While Como do have one of the biggest budgets in the league, Fabregas has earned praise for his team’s style of play, having conceded the second-least amount of goals this season and also scoring the fourth-most.
Hazard also namedropped Kenan Yildiz as a player he would love to see Chelsea sign one day, although he admitted that the Juventus star ‘seems like a Real Madrid type.’
“My kids are crazy about Yildiz, they watch tons of videos of him playing and hope to see him in the Premier League,” Hazard said. “To me, though, he seems like a Real Madrid type…”
