Thomas Tuchel has got Jude Bellingham to boiling point. That is exactly where he will want him to be if England are to win the World Cup.
He had him showing all the drive and determination of one of Europe’s best young players and only took him off against Latvia to protect him from himself.
I’d always rather see an England player fired up than someone who can only ever be lukewarm.
Tuchel will control Bellingham and get the best out him. He is trying to use him in the same way as Real Madrid do, which makes sense.
Bellingham has gone to one of the best teams Europe and has already won La Liga and the Champions League.
At Madrid, Bellingham has two sitting midfielders behind him giving him license to stay high up the pitch, which is what Tuchel did in his first game against Albania.

Comparisons may be drawn to Paul Gascoigne, but he should be an all-purpose midfielder running from deep more in the mould of Bryan Robson (right)
Comparisons may be drawn to Paul Gascoigne when you see him running with freedom with the ball in the final third.
That might work at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, but if England are to get anywhere near winning the World Cup, I think we will need to see Bellingham more as an all-action, all-purpose midfielder running from deep more in the mould of Bryan Robson.
Tuchel started just Declan Rice as a holding midfielder on Monday night with Bellingham and Morgan Rogers ahead of him and when Latvia broke on the counter-attack we looked open in midfield.
When we play against the best nations around the world we will need a stronger defensive structure and Bellingham will have to be a part of that shield.
Tuchel is a highly intelligent manager and an exceptionally quick learner as we saw at Chelsea when he won the Champions League in his first season.
He will be wiling away the time between now and June when he next sees his players trying to find the right solutions for England to embark on winning the World Cup.
