The agent of Theo Hernandez insists that his client wants to stay at AC Milan, but Italian media continues to link him with a 2025 transfer.

The Frenchman is enduring a difficult campaign. Hernandez has been one of the most disappointing performers in what has been a generally underwhelming first season under Paulo Fonseca.

The AC Milan coach is once more under pressure after losing to Atalanta and drawing with relegation-battlers Genoa and his relationship with the players, chief among them Hernandez and Rafael Leao, has come under scrutiny.

Fonseca has been quite tough on the Rossoneri’s stars and not all of them appear to be taking it well, with Hernandez recently described as the weak link in the team.

Milan have been in talks with the left-back over a contract extension for months, but his performances this term have made the club question whether he actually has a long-term future with them.

Hernandez agent responds

Indeed, Italian media outlets have repeatedly insisted that Hernandez could depart Milan in 2025, perhaps as early as January. Man Utd are known admirers of the France international and they are in the market for a left-back.

The player’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon was spotted in Milan earlier on Monday, though he insisted that he is not in Italy to discuss the Rossoneri star’s future with the club.

Still, he decided to answer questions about Hernandez and stated that his client was determined to remain at the San Siro. “We will talk about it when the time comes,” he said. “The reality has not changed. Our will is clear and it is to stay.”

Despite this, Gazzetta dello Sport continues to claim that a ‘January transfer can’t be ruled out’ even if it would be a ‘sensational’ move. It is unclear what the future holds, though coach Fonseca could provide a clue with his upcoming team selection.

If the Portuguese decides to keep Hernandez benched, as he did against Genoa, then a departure in 2025 could become increasingly realistic.
