Italy squad celebrate against Israel (@Azzurri)
Italy scored five but conceded four on their way to a chaotic 5-4 victory away against Israel in qualification for the 2026 World Cup on Monday evening, the second game in a row that the Azzurri have scored five under new CT Gennaro Gattuso. Watch the highlights below.
The Nazionale secured a 5-0 win over Estonia in Gattuso’s first match since taking over from Luciano Spalletti, and then followed it up with a 5-4 victory away against Israel to maintain his 100% win record after two games.
Israel were ahead twice within the first hour, at 1-0 and 2-1. Goals from Moise Kean (x2), Matteo Politano, Giacomo Raspadori and Sandro Tonali ensured that the Azzurri went back home with the three points after full-time.
