The Rhinelanders’ risk losing the talented centre-half to the Premier League.

Piero Hincapié has decided to leave Bayer Leverkusen if a suitable offer arrives before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Both Sky Germany and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have claimed that the decision has been made by the 23-year-old.

As previously mentioned in earlier reports, Hincapié has a release clause in his contract worth €60million.

Leverkusen still want to keep their centre-back and see him as an important part of the team, but interest from England is looming.

Romano further backed up the English interest which revolved around Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to sign him ‘a few weeks ago’.

Chelsea have also been heavily linked with the Ecuadorian, but they are operating on budget constraints after a big summer of spending.

Hincapié was seen visibly distraught on the BayArena pitch after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to TSG Hoffenheim – perhaps a departure is inevitable.
