At a press conference on Friday, VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß voiced his frustration over Nick Woltemade’s imminent move to Newcastle United.
After reports began circulating on Thursday evening that VfB Stuttgart have agreed to sell Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United in a deal worth €90 million, it is now only a matter of time before the German international’s move to England is finalized.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed that Woltemade will not be available for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“The situation with Nick is well known. Of course, he will not be available,” said Hoeneß, visibly frustrated to see one of his key players leave so close to Monday’s transfer deadline.
“Of course, there’s a certain tension, which is okay and normal. The responsibility for sporting matters lies primarily with the coach. From our perspective – and it’s not hard to understand – losing him is a major blow, especially since we assumed he would stay.
“There’s also a financial aspect. It’s all part of the business. Now we’re trying to implement things we had planned before Nick’s transfer. We still have time, but not much.
“The fact is, this is a major loss for us, not least from a sporting perspective,” emphasized Hoeness.
