A former Premier League manager has been shifted to odds-on favourite to succeed Thomas Frank and he has only recently left his post in France in the last 24 hours too

The search for Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager is still in the early stages but the bookies have already established an odds-on favourite to succeed Thomas Frank. William Hill have been quick on the mark with this market and it appears a clear option is available for free from his time in France plus has Premier League experience under his belt as well.

Frank struggled to inspire improvement during his brief tenure, with frustration mounting among supporters toward the former Brentford manager. While he did steer Spurs into the Champions League knockout stages, their Premier League performances have been disappointing, leading to persistent calls from fans for his removal. Tottenham are currently without a win in their last eight league fixtures and have not secured a home victory in the Premier League since early December.

Attention now shifts to who will replace Frank. Bookmakers have installed former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi as the frontrunner, following his surprise overnight departure from Marseille. De Zerbi’s impressive credentials—including guiding Brighton to their first-ever European campaign and returning Marseille to the Champions League—make him an attractive candidate for the Tottenham board.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Roberto De Zerbi has quickly emerged as the 4/6 favourite to replace Thomas Frank as the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

“Pochettino at 4/1 will naturally attract attention given his history with the club, while Xavi at the same price adds real pedigree to the market. Robbie Keane at 7/1 is an interesting contender too – he knows the club inside out and would be a popular appointment with supporters.

“Spurs’ struggles have also been reflected in the relegation betting. Spurs were 9/1 to be relegated prior to the Newcastle game but have now halved in price to 9/2 to drop into the Championship.

“The last time Tottenham were this short in the relegation betting was back in 2008, when they were around 6/1 in early October while bottom of the table and still without a win. It’s safe to say this is the shortest price they’ve been for the drop in more than 20 years!”

  • Xavi – 4/1
  • Robbie Keane – 7/1
  • Oliver Glasner – 10/1
