How Woltemade could fit into Bayern’s tactical plans

Sport Bild reports that Vincent Kompany personally persuaded Nick Woltemade to join Bayern Munich and outlines how the Stuttgart striker could fit into their tactical setup.

Last week, it was reported out of nowhere that VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade had agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich.

Sport Bild now reveals what led to the agreement: a personal video call between Vincent Kompany and Woltemade, during which the Bayern coach outlined how he plans to use the 23-year-old tactically.

Kompany envisions deploying Woltemade alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala. The plan is for Musiala to operate more in the left attacking half-space, while Woltemade and Kane would form a rotating strike partnership, with one of them occasionally dropping deeper, according to the report.

Whether the deal will be finalized is still unclear, as talks between the clubs have only just started and their valuations of Woltemade differ.

While it has been suggested that Stuttgart are demanding as much as €100 million for Woltemade, Sky reported on Tuesday that the actual price expectation is between €60 and €70 million.

Bayern, however, are reportedly only willing to pay around €50 million for the 23-year-old.
