Como started the talks for Barcelona’s Inaki Pena on August 6, as we had exclusively revealed at the time, but the decision remains with them as Celta Vigo wait and hope.
The goalkeeper is eager to make the move to Serie A and has been told to find another club after struggling for playing time at Camp Nou and with his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Inaki Pena waiting for Como to decide
Playing time is precisely the problem, because Como are still trying to decide whether investing in Inaki Pena would risk penalising the form of their current shot-stopper, Jean Butez.
The decision remains only with Como, but time is running out to push one way or the other, because Celta Vigo and another Spanish side are waiting in the wings and ready to swoop.
Until that moment, Inaki Pena can continue to hope that Cesc Fabregas will call him over to Italy for this new experience.
A product of the Barcelona youth academy, this would not be his first experience abroad, having gone on loan to Galatasaray for six months in 2022.
