Reports in Italy indicate that there is an increasingly likely scenario where the Serie A match between Milan and Como scheduled for February 2026 is played in Perth, Australia.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan, Como, the FIGC and UEFA are discussing the possibility of playing a one-off league match down under as a result of a scheduling issue in San Siro.

The reason is that the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, which is due to host the Milan-Como match in Serie A on February 8, 2026, will instead be used for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which is taking place across Lombardy and northern Italy.

The Winter Olympics’s opening ceremony means that Milan will have to find alternative arrangements for their match against Como coming up in February.

The FIGC have reportedly given a positive response to the suggestion, and both clubs are also said to be keen on the idea. Milan have already visited Perth in 2024 to play an end-of-season friendly against Roma, and are also due to take on Perth Glory on July 31

In order for the match to go ahead in Australia, the clubs will need approval from FIFA, UEFA, the AFC, the FIGC – who have already given their approval – and Football Australia, the governing body down under.
