- Couple stayed at Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire
Sam Kerr‘s wedding on New Year’s Eve in Australia was seemingly spared no expense – and now it can be revealed a recent ‘mini honeymoon’ with wife Kristie Mewis was equally lavish.
Kerr, 32, and Mewis headed to the Cotswolds region in south-central England and lived large at the Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire, which can cost guests up to $2360 a night.
The lovebirds were joined by their baby boy Jagger for the 90-minute drive from London.
‘They have different restaurants on site, they have everything that you would ever want to relax there,’ former West Ham defender Mewis revealed on the latest episode of the Mewis Squared podcast.
‘We kind of just went to every single restaurant and sat there for three or four hours in one sitting.
‘We sat at breakfast from like seven (am) to 11, but it was honestly so nice.

‘It was just one of those things where you just kept ordering coffees and kept ordering things, you would (also) go back up and get some fruit.
‘It’s one of those places where you just don’t have to do anything…we felt like we just sat and ate the whole time’.
Next month, Kerr will be a key figure as the Matildas look to win the Asian Cup on home soil.
The striker won the tournament as a teenager in 2010 – and is eyeing off more silverware with the national team.
‘Sixteen years ago seems crazy. It feels like yesterday,’ Kerr told ABC Perth.
‘I thought I would win many more. I think it shows how hard it is to win the Asian Cup and the importance of the tournament.’
Kerr is also relishing her time under new coach Joe Montemurro.
‘He wants to play a certain style of football, which has been really clear,’ the skipper said.
Kristie Mewis said the couple relaxed on their mini honeymoon by drinking endless cups of coffee and sampling many of the restaurants (pictured)

‘When you have a clear identity as a team, it is easy to get everyone to focus on themselves…we also need to be at our best, physically and mentally.
‘It’s nice to have an Aussie in there. I think it just hits home when you’ve got an Aussie coaching you.
‘He’s a top coach, and he’s been really good for the group off the pitch too.’
The Matildas take on the Philippines (March 1, Perth), Iran (March 5, Gold Coast) and South Korea (March 8, Sydney) in their group matches at the Asian Cup.
