Inter concerned about Dimarco and Thuram’s fitness ahead of international Break

Inter are currently grappling with injury concerns affecting their squad, including star players Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram, raising apprehensions about their potential involvement in upcoming international fixtures.

Left-back Dimarco has been sidelined due to a muscular injury, making him unavailable for recent matches, including the two-legged Champions League tie against Feyenoord. His absence has posed tactical challenges for coach Simone Inzaghi, who has had to adjust his defensive setup accordingly.

Meanwhile, forward Thuram has been contending with a persistent left ankle issue since early February, necessitating the use of painkillers and injections to remain match-fit.

Inzaghi revealed that this ailment has hindered his training intensity and overall performance, as he only started two of his side’s last six games across competitions.

Why international break sparks Inter’s concerns about Dimarco and Thuram’s health

The looming international break presents a dilemma for the Nerazzurri, as both players are potential call-ups for their respective national teams. The club harbours concerns that participation in international duty could impede their recovery processes, especially with a congested fixture list ahead, encompassing crucial domestic and European matches.

In response, as reported by Calciomercato.com, the club’s management plans to engage in discussions with the Italian and French football federations to assess the situation.

The objective is to negotiate the possibility of exempting Dimarco and Thuram from international commitments, thereby affording them the necessary time to recuperate and regain optimal fitness.

Such an arrangement would be mutually beneficial, allowing both club and country to rely on the players’ contributions in peak condition for future endeavors. However, the Biscione are aware that the final decision rests with the football federations.
