Inter in contact with RB Leipzig over Xavi Simons deal as Lookman alternative – Football Italia

Reports in Italy claim that there has been direct contact between Inter and Bundesliga side RB Leipzig over a potential deal for Netherlands international Xavi Simons, who is being looked at as a potential alternative to Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

Inter are looking at making a significant investment on a new attacker for the 2025-26 season, and reports from multiple outlets over the last week indicate that Lookman is the main target after an impressive few seasons both individually and collectively with Atalanta. 

However, according to reports from TMW, Inter have identified Xavi Simons as an alternative to Lookman on the summer transfer market. 

Nerazzurri director Piero Ausilio has reportedly been in direct contact with agent Ali Barat, and talks reportedly remain ongoing. 

Simons has two years remaining on his current RB Leipzig deal, which makes a sale this window possible, as the German outfit are said to be keen to avoid heading into a situation where Simons is sold for a reduced fee with less than 12 months remaining on his deal this time next year.
