Inter star Lautaro Martinez continued to train separately on Friday, so he remains in doubt for Sunday’s Serie A match against Sassuolo.

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez hasn’t yet recovered from low back pain that forced him to the bench in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Ajax in the Champions League.

Lautaro Martinez still trains separately

Calciomercato.com and other Italian media outlets report that the Argentine forward continued training separately on Friday, so his availability for the next match against Sassuolo remains uncertain.

If Lautaro won’t be fit to play, he’ll be replaced by Ange-Yoan Bonny or Francesco Pio Esposito.

There’s good news, however, regarding Italian defender Matteo Darmian, who didn’t even travel to Amsterdam earlier this week, also due to back pain.

The former Manchester United defender trained with the rest of the team today, so he’ll be available against Sassuolo in the next Serie A match on Sunday.

Inter have started the 2025-26 Serie A campaign with two defeats in three games, so the upcoming meeting with the Neroverdi is a must-win.
