Inter and Robin Van Persie are set to cross paths in the Champions League last-16, as Feyenoord are reportedly on the verge of appointing the former Arsenal and Manchester United star as their new head coach.

The Eredivisie giants parted ways with Brian Priske—who had replaced Arne Slot following his move to Liverpool last summer—just before their first-leg knockout play-off against Milan in the Champions League.

Van Persie to become new Feyenoord coach before Inter clash in Champions League

Despite a coaching change and the departure of star striker Santiago Gimenez to the Rossoneri in the winter transfer window, the Rotterdam side still managed to secure a 2-1 aggregate victory over the two legs, with interim manager temporarily Pascal Bosschaart leading the team.

However, Feyenoord will have changed coach again by the time they meet Inter in the Champions League Round of 16, as TMW reported they are expected to appoint Van Persie soon, opting to pay the release clause to terminate the Dutch’s current contract with Heerenveen.

As a result, Simone Inzaghi will have a limited sample of games to analyse Van Persie’s side before their clash in early March, as the Nerazzurri will first travel to Rotterdam before hosting Feyenoord at the San Siro in the return leg.
