Reports from various outlets claim that Inter will target a move for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones to replace Davide Frattesi should the Italy international join Nottingham Forest before the end of the January transfer window.

Gazzetta: Inter want Jones to replace Frattesi

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Frattesi is increasingly likely to join Nottingham Forest before the January deadline hits.

The Italy international has fallen down the pecking order in San Siro, with stiff competition from the likes of Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Petar Sucic, Piotr Zielinski and Andy Diouf. The 26-year-old has started just once in Serie A so far this term.

According to Saturday’s report, Inter will not allow Frattesi to leave unless they have a replacement lined up themselves, but the Nerazzurri are said to have landed on Liverpool’s Jones, which could free up Frattesi for Forest.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are closing in on an initial loan deal for Jones with an option to buy for a fee in the region of €40m.

The Pink Paper claims that Jones himself has asked to leave, but that Liverpool are still reluctant to sign off on his departure.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the currently injured Denzel Dumfries, who could potentially become involved in negotiations between the two clubs.
