He started his career at Al-Ittihad and had a loan spell at Levante before joining Al-Shabab in 2022.

He was removed from Saudi Arabia’s 2022 World Cup squad as a precautionary measure regarding a doping case.

Al-Muwallad was banned from all football activities for 18 months from March that year but his sentence was later reduced.

Saudi Arabia removed him from the squad following an appeal from the World Agency to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The winger has since returned to international football.
