Inzaghi and Gasperini respond to Thiago Motta’s Juventus sacking: ‘He’s very good’ – Football Italia – March 24 latest

Inter and Atalanta head coaches Simone Inzaghi and Gian Piero Gasperini have both shared their thoughts on the sacking of their former Serie A colleague Thiago Motta, who was dismissed as head coach of Juventus on Sunday. 

Motta was sacked as Juventus head coach on Sunday and has been replaced by Igor Tudor, who will take charge of the team on an interim basis until the end of the 2024-25 season. 

In contrast, Inzaghi and Gasperini were both honoured at the Panchina d’Oro awards at Coverciano on Monday. Inzaghi has been crowned the best coach in Italy by his colleagues, while Gasperini came in second and picked up an individual award in recognition of Atalanta’s Europa League victory at the end of last season. 

Both shared their thoughts on Juventus’s decision to sack Motta eight months into his tenure.

Gasperini took a moment during his acceptance speech to address the news about Motta: “I think about all the coaches, especially those who are going through a moment of difficulty,” he said, reported via TMW. 

“We don’t always go about it professionally when it happens. There is often a media pile-on on the staff. I don’t like that. My thoughts go out to these guys. I am referring specifically to Thiago Motta at the moment.” 

Inzaghi, meanwhile, gave his opinion during an interview just after the award ceremony: “He’s a colleague I respect. We’ve gone up against each other many times. It’s happened, unfortunately. I’m sorry for him, I respect him as a coach and as a person. I think he’ll come back quickly, because he’s very good.”
