La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter ‘informally complained’ about Bodo/Glimt’s artificial turf before their Champions League game on Wednesday, and Lautaro Martinez’s injury further irritated the Serie A giants.

Lautaro Martinez’s calf injury during Wednesday’s Champions League clash away at Bodo/Glimt irritated Inter, as the Nerazzurri believe that the artificial turf in which the game was played contributed to their captain’s physical issue.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu admitted at full-time that Lautaro’s injury was serious.

According to Gazzetta, the Argentine and Piotr Zielinski will undergo medical tests on Friday as the Nerazzurri only returned from Norway today.

According to the report, Lautaro dragged his right leg at the airport this morning, while Zielinski was walking ‘normally.’

Gazzetta reports that Inter directors feel the artificial turf fell far short of the standards expected at the highest levels of European football.

The pink paper adds that the pitch ‘looked like a poorly laid Subbuteo mat’ with strange wrinkles around the edges and that Inter had already informally complained to UEFA before the match, fearing for the safety of their players.

Lautaro was subbed off at minute 60 last night, while Zielinski replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan at minute 76. Zielinski played until the end of the match, but still needs to be assessed tomorrow due to a minor injury.
