Jackson brace ensures rotated Bayern crush Leverkusen’s feeble resistance

Tonight’s Top Spiel was something of a damp squib as a Bayern Munich side sporting wholesale changes ripped Bayer Leverkusen apart at the Allianz Arena.

To the surprise of many, Vincent Kompany decided to rotate heavily against Bayer Leverkusen this evening. Ultimately, however, rotation did little to affect the unbeaten Bavarians. They managed to extend their winning run to 15 with a 3-0 triumph tonight.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side were under no illusions as they faced Germany’s most in-form side and adjusted their tactics adequately. Sitting deep in defence naturally invited Bayern onto the visitors in the opening 10 minutes which lacked clear-cut chances.

Bayern’s talented prodigy Lennart Karl started to purr after the 15th-minute as he curled wide from range. Eventually the Leverkusen resistance snapped when Tom Bischof slipped a ball behind Quansah for Serge Gnabry to gather and slip between Mark Flekken’s legs.

The Netherlands shot-stopper was forced to scrape the ball out of his net five minutes later just past the half-hour mark. Konrad Laimer, given too much space on the right, crossed for Nicolas Jackson who climbed into the Bavarian night and powered home with his head.

Suddenly, the scoreboard at the Allianz Arena displayed a 3-0 advantage for the record champions. Leverkusen’s passive defending was a theme of the first-half as Raphaël Guerreiro’s delivery caught Loïc Badé unawares as he steered it into his own net.

Hjulmand introduced Ibrahim Maza for Aleix Garcia for the second-half, however it did little to shrink Bayern’s influence. Jackson’s final act of the night was to head wide from a Laimer delivery before Kompany called upon Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane on the hour.

The extent of Bayern’s cavalry proved to be relentless for the weary visitors as Olise and Sacha Boey almost combined for a fourth goal. Christian Kofane’s introduction brought late impetus but Neuer encountered no troubles as the hosts surged to another comfortable three points.
