The former England international moved to Stamford Bridge on an initial season-long loan deal in late August and he has enjoyed an eye-catching start to life in west London.

Sancho has scored in his last two Premier League appearances, while he has also provided five assists since leaving Man Utd to join Chelsea.

The 24-year-old endured a torrid three-year spell at Old Trafford, but he has seen his fortunes improve dramatically following his arrival at Chelsea.

Sancho took just one shot during his first six league matches for the Blues, however he has registered six shots in his last three games and Maresca has been impressed by the Englishman’s development over the past few weeks.

What has Enzo Maresca said?

“Jadon, since we started, is doing well,” Maresca told the official Chelsea club website. “He was lacking a finish because we had many different games where he arrived one-v-one and he is always looking for an assist.

“This is good but sometimes he is in a position where he can take a shot and now he is doing better.”

Maresca added: “If you look at us this season, from the right winger with Noni [Madueke] and Pedro [Neto], the right pocket with Cole [Palmer], the number nine with Christo [Christopher Nkunku] and Nico [Nicolas Jackson], we have scored goals.

“From the left side and left pocket, we struggle a little bit but now we start with Enzo [Fernandez] and Jadon. With the five attacking players, we need goals and assists from them. All the same.

“Off the ball, the way we work, Pedro and Noni on one side and Jadon and Misha [Mykhailo Mudryk] on the other, they have to run when we don’t have the ball. It’s not more than that.

“You can’t only play football when we have the ball, you have to play it when we don’t have the ball. We require sacrifice and hard work.”
