The England U21 international scored his eighth goal of the season during a 1-1 draw against fierce rivals Bayern Munich on Saturday and rumours of a transfer in 2025 have intensified in recent weeks.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all monitoring Gittens’ development at the Signal Iduna Park, and he is expected to become the latest Dortmund star to leave the club for a huge transfer fee.

However, the Bundesliga giants are eager to ward off Premier League interest in order to keep Gittens at the club for the foreseeable future.

Gittens, 20, signed a Borussia Dortmund contract extension back in October 2023, meaning his current deal with the German side now runs until 2028.

What has been said?

BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer has confirmed that Gittens is a key part of the club’s current and future plans.

“He [Gittens] is very important, right now he is one of our players who makes the difference,” he told Anfield Watch. “Even if we had some problems on the pitch, he can be a difference-maker through his individual quality.

“He had some bad luck with injuries, but he’s really focused. He’s a Dortmund guy. When we convinced him to sign, we had a good example from former players like [Jude] Bellingham and [Jadon] Sancho, but not only the English ones, but others. The young ones know they will receive minutes on the pitch and that Dortmund is an excellent platform.

“It is our ambition to keep these players with us for as long as possible. It’s not our aim to make as much money as quickly as possible. He is a player who makes a difference. But he’s also a player who can be a good example to other young players that Dortmund gives you the time to develop yourself and educate yourself even if you are struggling with injuries.

“We are very, very happy to have him here. Happy with how he’s playing, how he’s behaving. He’s so humble. He’s a perfect Dortmund guy.”

Gittens has scored eight goals and provided three assists in all competitions so far this season, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) now stands at a career peak of €44.5 million.
