Joao Palhinha facing uncertain future

How Joao Palhinha’s career will progress after the summer remains unclear, but a return to FC Bayern is seemingly out of the question.

Since joining Tottenham on loan from Bayern Munich last summer, Joao Palhinha has been a regular starter for the London club.

There have been reports suggesting the move is likely to be made permanent, but according to Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast, Spurs have yet to decide whether to activate the €30 million purchase option in the deal.

Even if Tottenham decide they want to keep Palhinha, they reportedly hope to negotiate the fee down.

Should Spurs ultimately decide against signing him permanently, he will need to find a new club, as a return to Bayern is no longer an option, according to the podcast.

Clubs in Spain and Italy are said to be closely monitoring the defensive midfielder’s situation.
