It seems to be fashionable now to dunk on Jonathan David after his rough start to life at Juventus, but his history shows what he can do when given the right service and role.

Reading some of the newspaper columns around Italy right now, you’d be mistaken for thinking that David had suddenly become a useless striker, entirely incapable of making his mark at Serie A level.

They choose to ignore that he has always scored a ton of goals, especially in teams that understood how to put him in the best condition to deliver upfront.

Juventus are misusing David’s talents

The fact is that David has always given his best when accompanied by another striker that he can play off.

He never has been a centre-forward, he just was able to fill in as one when needed, which is definitely not the same thing.

Before coming to Juventus, the Canada international had proposals from the Premier League, LaLiga and within Serie A too as a free agent.

Even with hefty commissions on top of the wage demands, Juventus still decided to make that investment, and anyone trying to suggest now that he was some second or third choice for the Old Lady is rewriting history.

The facts speak for themselves, David is a good striker, but Juventus are not using him correctly, and wasting this opportunity.
